LMI4VET Comes to an End, but Its Journey Continues

On 31 October 2026, the LMI4VET – Labour Market Information for VET project officially comes to an end.

For two years, LMI4VET has worked to address a common challenge across Europe: although labour market data are increasingly available, many VET and third-sector organisations still face difficulties in interpreting this information and translating it into practical decisions about training, skills and employment.

To help bridge this gap, the partnership has combined research, methodological development, capacity building and digital learning. The result is an integrated set of resources designed to help organisations move from labour market information to evidence-informed action.

The project leaves behind a Methodological Guide, open training resources, video lessons, an AI-based Knowledge Assistant and the LMI4VET website, which provides a central access point to the project’s knowledge and resources.

But the legacy of LMI4VET goes beyond its tangible outputs. The final Impact+ exercise showed encouraging signs of greater awareness of evidence-informed training and planning. Partners reported examples of LMI4VET resources being explored or used for labour market diagnosis, training planning, professional development and educational activities. The exercise also showed that longer-term organisational and systemic impact will require time and continued engagement.

The consortium has developed a dedicated Exploitation Plan for 2026-2030, designed to support the continued use, sustainability and institutional uptake of the project results. Its approach combines technical, institutional, educational and strategic sustainability.

Partners will continue promoting and using the methodology and learning resources within their organisations and professional networks. Opportunities will also be explored to build on LMI4VET through future European cooperation, professional communities and initiatives related to VET, employment, skills intelligence and social inclusion.

The ambition remains the same: to contribute to a more evidence-informed VET ecosystem, in which training providers and social organisations are better equipped to anticipate labour market change and connect training provision with evolving skills and employment needs.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of the LMI4VET journey. 💙

After two years of collaboration, the meeting provided an opportunity to look back at the work carried out together and, at the same time, look ahead to the future of LMI4VET.

The first day focused on reviewing the final status of the project and its validation results. Partners then worked together on one of the most important questions at this stage: how can the knowledge, tools and resources developed through LMI4VET continue to generate value after the end of the Erasmus+ funding period?

A dedicated workshop allowed partners to share their exploitation plans and discuss the sustainability of the project. The consortium also carried out an Impact+ exercise, reflecting on the changes already generated through LMI4VET, the barriers encountered along the way and the potential for longer-term impact. A brainstorming session on possible follow-up initiatives provided the opportunity to explore new ideas for future cooperation.

The meeting was also about connecting the European partnership with local practice. Participants visited Peñascal Kooperatiba and, on the second day, several initiatives linked to social and labour-market inclusion and work integration social enterprises.

Beyond the agenda and final project tasks, the Bilbao meeting highlighted something that has been central to LMI4VET from the beginning: collaboration between people and organisations with very different perspectives and experiences.

For two years, knowledge organisations and social partners in five European countries have worked side by side, bringing together labour market research and the practical experience of organisations supporting people facing barriers to employment.

The Bilbao meeting may have been our final transnational project meeting, but the relationships, knowledge and ideas developed through LMI4VET will continue beyond it.

Thank you to Sartu for hosting us, and to all LMI4VET partners for two years of collaboration, exchange and learning.
